At various roast levels, you’ll also experience subtle floral notes and a hint of soft fruit. The finish carries a touch of herbal spice, while the medium body and low to medium acidity make it a crowd-pleaser for any coffee lover.

About the Source/Farm

Hacienda la Amistad is a family-owned coffee farm in the lush region of Coto Brus, Costa Rica. Owned and operated by Roberto Montero, a third-generation coffee farmer, the farm has been cultivated by the Montero family for decades. Roberto’s grandfather first arrived in the area in the early 1900s as part of a team surveying the border between Costa Rica and Panama. Over time, he acquired land, eventually planting coffee on the estate.

Hacienda la Amistad spans 10,000 hectares, but only 300 hectares are used for coffee cultivation. The remaining land is preserved as part of La Amistad International Park, the largest natural reserve in Central America. The family’s commitment to conservation is evident, as they have returned over 6,000 hectares of land to the Costa Rican government to protect the park's biodiversity.

Roberto’s dedication extends beyond farming; he also invests in his community. During harvest, Roberto provides housing and medical care for seasonal workers, most of whom are indigenous people from Panama who bring their families to work on the farm. Hacienda la Amistad also creates over 100 full-time jobs in the nearby village of Las Mellizas, offering work not just in coffee cultivation but also in a year-round dried fruit operation. Every year, Roberto hosts an employee celebration and distributes school supplies to the children of his workers.
