About the Source/Farm
This coffee comes from the Asociación de Productores de Café Especial de Huehuetenango (ASOPCE), a cooperative of over 450 smallholder farms in the rugged and challenging terrain of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Each family uses its own micro-mill to process the coffee, allowing for meticulous care in cherry selection, depulping, fermenting, and drying. This micro-processing approach ensures high quality at every stage of production.
ASOPCE also supports its members by providing technical assistance in agricultural practices and helping farmers reduce costs through the use of organic fertilizers made from coffee pulp. The cooperative partners with BICAFE, an export company with a solar-powered dry mill, to ensure the coffee is processed efficiently and sustainably.
The region's high elevation and ideal growing conditions contribute to the coffee’s distinctive smoothness and clean finish, making it a standout example of Guatemalan coffee. ASOPCE’s focus on quality, sustainability, and community development has made it a vital part of Huehuetenango’s coffee culture.
