Kayon Mountain Coffee is a family-owned farm, operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo, situated in the remote and pristine Guji region of Ethiopia. The 500-hectare farm, with over 300 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation, benefits from the high-altitude conditions that enhance the flavor profiles of the beans. Located at over 2000 meters above sea level, this coffee is grown in one of the most ideal environments for Arabica coffee.
The farm follows organic farming practices and emphasizes environmental sustainability. Kayon Mountain is committed to preserving the surrounding forests, thanks to the efforts of the local community, led by Ismael and his team. They’ve implemented sustainable farming practices that include planting disease-resistant cultivars and focusing on conservation to protect the local ecosystem.
Ismael’s farm also plays a vital role in the local community, providing jobs and supporting social development. He ensures fair wages for workers and contributes to building schools and community buildings, reinforcing his commitment to the well-being of both his farm and the local area.
